Problem Behavior Consultations
Sharing your home with a dog can be one of the most rewarding experiences as long as your dog is overall well behaved and knows its appropriate place in the family. It can be a very challenging experience if your dog frequently exhibits a problem behavior.
Does your dog exhibit any of the following behaviors?
What to expect from a PPT behavioral consultation?
History of your dog
Prior to your consultation visit, we will ask you to fill out and return a comprehensive behavioral history which we will review with you during the appointment.
Observation of behaviors in natural setting
During the consultation visit, Dr. Sonja Stell will observe your dog. If possible and reasonable, the observation will take place where the problem behaviors are exhibited (e.g. at home, in a park, etc.)
Diagnosis and Treatment Plan Development
Dr. Sonja Stell will identify a diagnosis and an explanation for your dog's problem behaviors. This diagnosis will be based on your dog's history as well as the direct and indirect observations made during the session.
Dr. Stell will develop a customized treatment plan. In rare cases, behavior modification will be deemed impractical or too risky. In those cases, other options will be discussed.
Begining of Treatment Plan Implementation
During the first session, Dr. Sonja Stell will review the treatment plan implementation steps. The techniques to be used will be demonstrated and you will get to practice them. Before the end of the session, you will receive handouts explaining the behavioral problem(s) your dog is having and the rational behind the treatment.
How much is a behavioral consultation?
